Title: The Conduit Officially Underperforms
Posted: Friday, July 17, 2009 at 11:23 pm
Official statistics have confirmed that The Conduit, one of the most highly anticipated Wii games of 2009, has greatly underperformed at retail.
Launching last month to mostly mediocre reviews, the game has sold only 72,000 copies in the US, putting it out of the Wii’s top 5 and 25th for the month overall. The Conduit did not do well in the UK, either, debuting at number 29 overall.
The Conduit was Sega’s latest attempt to breach the core Wii market. Its previous attempts, House of the Dead: Overkill and MadWorld both performed worse than the Conduit, selling 45,000 and 66,000 copies in their first months, respectively.
June was not a good month for the industry overall, either. NDP results for the month show that the industry has experienced its fourth straight month of decline, with total sales down 31% from this time last year. Hardware fell 38% and software sales were down 29%.

That's sad. This whole situation is so screwed up. Maybe relaesing good games only during the holidays isn't the best idea. Imagine that.

It's official. Those fanboys who scream they want more "harcore" games on the Wii have no one to blame but themselves for this.

Not necessarily, it's mostly because of the extreme limitations exerted by the Wii's hardware. This is the year 2009, and there are standards for quality in games that the Wii is not able to meet. And to all you hopeful fans out there, give it up. Kid Icarus aint gonna happen.
