Notice all the 2's coming out lately? I personally think it's a good sign, but that's beside the point of this post. I'd like to point out to those that haven't already noticed that the latest Game Informer has an article on Dead Space 2. I must say, it sounds like they're going nuts with this one. For one thing, Isaac Clarke is back and ready to blast some necromorphs to hell and back.

It takes place 3 years after Dead Space, and Isaac has some new technology at his disposal. He's got a sleek new suit that has rocket jets on the boots that allow him to shoot through zero-G areas like Buzz Lightyear. There's apparently also many more weapons besides the plasma cutter that are actually useful. Another thing they're doing differently is the combat. They say they want you to feel more in control of a fight and less under the impression that you need to react to things. The environments are supposedly going to be far less claustrophobic in order to assist in this endeavor.

Isaac himself is going to be much more prominent in the game as well. He now has special recognition for having survived the Ishimura incident, which was what happened in the first game. He actually speaks this time and, according to the devs, "calls the shots". I guess he gets to have some authority this time around instead of just doing as told. For those that have beaten the first game, he is apparently still... haunted, I suppose you could say, by the things that happened on the Ishimura. As such, his judgement is not always right where it ought to be.

This is just a bit of what they're doing with Isaac's next "adventure". If you want to know more, I'd look it up. You might be able to find scans of the GI article, but I wouldn't know where, would I?

I'm pretty excited! How about you?

Less clausterphobice enviorments? Let me be clear; THIS ISN'T A RUN AND GUN FPS. THIS IS A HORROR GAME. A GAME THAT IS SUPPOSED TO SCARE YOU. CLAUSTERPHOBIA ONLY ADDS TO THE SCARES, AND FEELING AS IF YOUR HELPLESS AND STRUGGLING (EVEN IF ITS WITH THE EVIORMENT OR EVEN CONTROLS (LOOK AT SILENT HILL)) With that out of my system I have to say that aslong as the plasma cutter is still there then its ok, altough i dont know how they will make other things useful but thats up to them. any way sounds interesting, the first game was a materpeice so I'll have to check this one out.

They say they're going to use new methods to scare the crap out of us, so I imagine they'll figure something out. I mean, being in a wide-open area leaves you very little room to run if you get surrounded. And yes, they're keeping the plasma cutter and leaving it unchanged, which is definitely a good thing. I'm still curious to see how much fun the other weapons will be this time around.

Another thing I forgot to metion was that they're going to have an online multiplayer mode. They haven't said anything much about it, other than that you will get to dismember your friends. Sounds like fun to me! I think it's planned to come out in 2010, but there's no confirmation of any time frame for release. That's good, because I feel that they sould take all the time they need to finish the game, especially since they need to go the extra mile to make is convincingly scary.

Here's a link to an actual source.

You still ought to go get a copy of GI. I know I'm going to! Yes, I've already looked at scans online, I'll admit. Still, I'd like to be able to read it anytime before someone takes it down.
